Welcome to the UT Medical Center team page!
Hi, I’m ChemoBear, the mascot for the UTMC Cancer Institute and this year’s UT Medical Center’s team captain for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure! My role is to educate, encourage, and celebrate survivors of all types of cancer, check me out on my FaceBook page. I’m excited to be a pink warrior to promote breast cancer awareness for the Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure.
As a member of our team, you are playing a part in helping Susan G. Komen® end breast cancer forever. Of the money raised by this event, 75% stays here locally in 16 East Tennessee counties to fund screening, treatment support, and education in our community. The UT Cancer Institute's Breast Health Outreach Program (BHOP) provided 232 free digital screening mammograms to uninsured women last year funded through the Knoxville Komen grant we received. Thanks to the University Breast Center, UT Medical Center's Mobile Mammography Unit and funds raised at Race the Cure, breast cancers are being diagnosed that may have otherwise gone undetected. The UT Cancer Institute also received a grant to provide support to women facing financial difficulties during their breast cancer treatment.
Together, we are making an impact in the fight against breast cancer. We will not stop until this disease is gone forever. That’s our promise.
Please join us in this fight and ask others to support your efforts. Team members who raise at least $75 will be entered into a drawing for a "PINK PRIZE BASKET"!
It's easy to fundraise online. Just visit your participant page to customize it and email your family/friends to ask for their support. They can make donations online or give you cash/checks (made payable to Komen Race for the Cure), which can be turned into the BHOP office - Bldge F, Suite 342.
